Meet Layton

When 3-week-old Layton began spitting up more than usual, his parents, Krista and Mark, knew that something was not right with their baby boy. “After changing Layton’s clothes multiple times several days in a row, we decided it was time to take him to the doctor,” Krista says.

Krista took Layton to Fairview Lakes Pediatric Clinic where physicians diagnosed him with pyloric stenosis, a stomach condition that prevents food from entering the small intestine. Physicians at the clinic rushed Layton to University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital.

The next day, Robert Acton, M.D., a pediatric surgeon, performed Layton’s non-invasive surgery without any complications. “It was very scary to have our son go through surgery at such a young age,” says Mark. “But we knew that Layton was in good hands and that made a world of a difference.”

Today, Layton is growing and thriving, and bringing lots of joy to his family — including older brother Kavan. Immediately after his birth, Kavan spent time in the neonatal intensive care unit at University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital. Learn more about Kavan’s story.
