Cornerstone ceremony for new children's hospital
With construction of the University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital on schedule, a symbolic cornerstone was dedicated during a ceremony by Minnesota Masons in October. More than 200 Masons and dignitaries from Fairview and the University of Minnesota participated in this dedication event. Opening in March 2011, the eco-friendly, 200-plus-bed, 227,000-square-foot facility will consolidate the hospital’s 50 pediatric specialties and is closely affiliated with one of the nation’s top 20 pediatric research programs. Its unique “signature” metal exterior panels—in shades of blue, green, gold, maroon and purple—were unveiled this fall.
