In 2011 -- the 100th anniversary of the University of Minnesota's medical center and children's hospital -- a new, free-standing facility for University of Minnesota Amplatz Children's Hospital will open on the Riverside campus.  Replacing the current "hospital-within-a-hospital" configuration, this new building will unite children's and maternal services in one family-friendly location and house some of the country's leading clinical programs.
