Children and teens are especially sensitive to problems that could include an overactive bladder, bed-wetting, pain while voiding ("going"), or incontinence (leaking urine). These are not issues to take lightly, and your child should not be shamed or teased about it. We are here to help.

We have a variety of treatments for children with urologic conditions ranging from urinary-tract infections to complex inherited (congenital) conditions. Our team has special expertise in:

  • Hypospadias
  • Urinary obstruction
  • Urine reflux
  • Renal stones
  • Voiding dysfunction
  • Complex urinary tract anomalies (abnormalities)
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Urologic cancers

Here you will find the only center in the region providing complete care for children with Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH), disorders of sexual differentiation.

Physicians at University of Minnesota Children’s Hospital are leaders in minimally invasive (laparoscopic and endoscopic) surgery. Because we were first in the Upper Midwest to perform robot-assisted laparoscopic urologic surgery on a child, we have the most experience over time. Using this technology means your child can have major renal (kidney) and pelvic reconstructive surgery through tiny incisions, which can result in faster recovery with less scarring.

We provide specialty care including:
