Genetics care

UMACH_specialty_genetics_metabolism

Have you recently been informed that your child has or may have a genetic disease? Genes are inherited from parents, and  they determine characteristics such as the color of your child’s eyes. They can establish conditions that lead to health or to difficulties. Those conditions could include a variety of genetic diseases, birth defects or chromosomal abnormalities.

How we can help
To fit your child’s unique situation, our providers bring the right mix of experts to team up for your situation. Physicians, geneticists, genetic counselors and nurse practitioners will help you clearly understand your child’s diagnosis. They’ll develop a care plan to treat and manage your child’s health. From the first meeting, we’re all committed to working with you and your child.

At the Genetics Clinic, we deliver many highly specialized services that may be critical for your child’s health. For example, we have the only program in Minnesota that diagnoses and cares for children with inherited metabolic diseases. We also provide genetic counseling, prenatal diagnosis, newborn genetic screening, nutrition services and infusion therapy.
