National leaders then and now

Physicians at the University of Minnesota were some of the first in the 1960s to enter the then-new subspecialty of pediatric gastroenterology. The head of the department, Harvey Sharp, MD, retired, led the department to the national stature it enjoys today.

We evaluate and treat a variety of conditions

If you have a child with newborn jaundice, complications of Cystic Fibrosis or chronic pancreatitis, put your child in our hands. Also among our programs and services are transplant options to treat gastrointestinal conditions.

Our outpatient clinics include a team of dietitians and psychology professionals who provide their opinion when it will help make a better care plan for your child. All test and treatments that will be more comfortable for your child if he or she is asleep are done in a child-friendly environment.
