Turtle Derby

The 2007 Turtle Derby winning artist is Arrian Madden. Her winning turtle drawing was chosen to represent all the turtles in the race and is featured on all of the 2007 Turtle Derby materials.

For twenty years, the Turtle Derby has been one of the most popular fundraisers for University of Minnesota Children's Hospital, Fairview. On Thursday, June 21, once again the turtles will creep, crawl, and in some cases dash their way to the finish line. The 21st Annual Turtle Derby takes place on Diehl Plaza on University of Minnesota Children's Hospital's University campus from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.

In addition to seeing live turtles race around a track, visitors can mingle with the clowns, the turtle mascot, Goldy Gopher, and Ronald McDonald, and stop at booths to buy turtle sundaes, bratwursts, and souvenirs like T-shirts, hats, and buttons. Participants in the Turtle Derby children's drawing contest will also be on hand to parade their winning entries.

This year's Turtle Derby will be used to support the Kid's Club TV, add books and music to the Reading Corner, and more.
