- Imitate familiar sounds
Effects hospitalization may have on your baby
- Routines may be altered (feedings, playing, sleeping schedule, etc.)
- Multiple caregivers may add to your baby’s anxiety with strangers
Ways to support your baby’s development in a hospital setting
- Have parent or primary caregiver present
- Follow routines if possible
- Ask for consistent caregiver when available (nurse)
- Bring familiar items from home (toy, blanket, etc.)
- Fill out “Things To Know About Me” and post over crib
- Use crib as a safe space
- Avoid the crib for any type of procedure
