Appointments (M-F, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.): 888-KIDS-UMN University of Minnesota Children’s Hospital, Fairview provides a full range of expert nephrology care for infants, children and adolescents with kidney disease. Pediatric nephrologists here were first to develop hemodialysis treatments for infants and small children. University of Minnesota Children’s Hospital, Fairview is also home to one of the largest pediatric kidney transplant programs in the world. More children under age 2 have received kidney transplants at University of Minnesota Children’s Hospital, Fairview than at any other site in North America. Pediatric nephrologists work closely with experts in other specialties, including pediatric urology, transplant surgery, psychology, nutrition and social work to provide multidisciplinary care for pediatric patients of all ages. Physicians here are nationally and internationally renowned for patient care and research in primary kidney diseases and their related problems of hypertension, diabetes, renal development, drug therapy, metabolic abnormalities and transplantation. The University of Minnesota Medical School Division of Pediatric Nephrology has the longest, continuously funded training grant for pediatric nephrologists of any center in the United States.
