University of Minnesota Children’s Hospital, Fairview features a Pediatric Airway Center, which was created in coordination with pediatric pulmonologists and helps develop new procedures to avoid the need for tracheotomies in children.
On August 19, 2002, Frank Rimell, M.D., performed bilateral cochlear implant surgery at University of Minnesota Children’s Hospital, Fairview on the world’s youngest such patient, a 6-month-old girl. He also specializes in airway reconstructive surgery.
