Now is the time to rediscover University of Minnesota Children’s Hospital, Fairview. For more than a century, thousands of children and parents from throughout the Upper Midwest, the nation and the world have experienced how we provide comprehensive, world-class care to each patient, every day.
Parents and children trust us to provide any level of care that they need. In addition to meeting patients’ primary care needs, we also offer more complex care for those patients needing secondary and tertiary services. Children come to our 207-bed hospital, where we continue to build our reputation as the top pediatric hospital in the Upper Midwest. More is possible at University of Minnesota Children's Hospital, Fairview -- a children’s hospital with one of the nation's top 15 pediatric research programs.
We have many achievements to our credit. We were the children’s hospital to accomplish the first successful pediatric blood and marrow transplant, the first infant heart transplant in Minnesota, and the first pediatric cochlear ear implant surgery. Families come to us because we have Minnesota’s only children’s behavioral inpatient unit and programming exclusively devoted to children ages 12 and younger, one of the three largest infant and small children kidney transplant programs, and have achieved the best long-term and quality of life survival outcomes in the nation for cystic fibrosis.
Our goal is to continue offering more to children and families, providing the highest quality treatments to improve their lives and to make more treatment options available to our patients. How can we do this? Our relationship with the University of Minnesota and University of Minnesota Physicians provides research experts who continually develop new therapies, sharing their best available treatments with our patients.
We have smart, dedicated people who work as a team to support a patient-family centered approach to caring for children. Our team members are physicians, nurses, mothers and fathers. They are caregivers and researchers. They are pioneers in learning new ways to help children. We present these stories to introduce you to those we serve, to showcase how we have touched patients’ lives and why we say at University of Minnesota Children’s Hospital, Fairview: THIS IS MORE.
