Children and adolescents with eating disorders come in all shapes and sizes. They might be male or female— underweight, overweight, or normal weight. Some experience the onset of illness in elementary school, while others do in college.
Among mental health problems, eating disorders carry the highest risk of morbidity and mortality. Early detection and treatment are among the best predictors of remission.
Medical care for children, adolescents and young adults up to 25 years of age with concerns about eating or weight is available through the Eating Assessment Treatment Services (EATS).
We consult with primary providers, assess eating issues, rule out alternative medical explanations for eating and weight problems, identify medical complications, and provide treatment and referral to comprehensive services as needed.
