The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at University of Minnesota Children’s Hospital, Fairview was established in 1980 as one of the first PICUs in the United States dedicated exclusively to the care of critically ill children. For more than 25 years, we’ve been meeting the critical care needs of children.
Our pediatric risk of mortality (PRISM) scores indicate a greater survival rate for children who receive care at our PICU than those who receive care at other PICUs across the country.
PICU staff members provide comprehensive and specialized care while creating a warm and compassionate healing environment for critically ill children.
