Bioethics
Many health-care issues involve difficult decisions for patients, families and practitioners. The Ethics Consult Service at University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital is available to assist individuals with decision making 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Child-Family Life Services
Child-Family Life Services provides various services to patients — from infancy to adolescence — and their families in effort to make their hospital experience less stressful. The Child-Family Life specialists help children cope with hospitalization and medical procedures.
- Kids' Council gives kids an opportunity to share their ideas and suggestions about how to improve care at University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital and the specialty clinics.
- Parent Advisory Board advocates for programs for children at the children's hospital and to advise administrators and physician leadership about issues related to children and families.
- Children's Academy is a free school program for students in regular or special education programs who are currently receiving medical care through University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital.
Epidemiology and Clinical Research
Pediatric epidemiologists at University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital study the causes and prevention of childhood diseases. Our research aims to improve therapies, increase cure rates for conditions, and minimize negative and late effects of treatments.
Hospitalist Program
Knowing the importance of continuity of care, University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital created an inpatient pediatric hospitalist program — the first of its kind in the Twin Cities. The duties of a hospitalist include all aspects of patient care — from admission to discharge — as well as teaching, research and administrative responsibilities.
Laboratory
The University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital laboratories are located on the Riverside and University of Minnesota campuses, and include a network of laboratories. To meet the needs of our pediatric patients, our laboratory specialists are trained in pediatric blood collection.
Spiritual Health Services
The Spiritual Health Services team at University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital offers spiritual and emotional support to patients and their families — from all faith traditions and practices — that are undergoing health-care challenges.
