STOP (Short Term Outpatient Preparation)
Is an intense inpatient program designed to provide short-term stabilization and preparation for one of the primary treatment options. There is a strong emphasis on family participation to identify problems, develop a treatment plan, and set realistic expectations when the adolescent returns home.
Short Term Stabilization Program
Is an intense inpatient stay for the adolescent who is having difficulty maintaining abstinence or complying in an outpatient setting. Once stabilized, the adolescent is returned to the outpatient program.
Dual Diagnosis
A hospital-based, highly structured, secured primary treatment program for adolescents with a substance abuse disorder and a mental health diagnosis, a history of running away and previous treatment failures. Programming includes academic instruction provided by Minneapolis Public School personnel.
Continuing Care
Adolescents work to maintain the new behaviors they learned in treatment through a structured program including family, individual and group counseling. Adolescents attend their own school and attend Continuing Care in the afternoon. Continuing Care provides a practical opportunity for adolescent to integrate their treatment, school, home and social life. Several levels of continuing care services are available from 1-5 days a week, depending on individual need.
Family Involvement
Chemical dependency involves each family member - not just the adolescent. In our experience, family recovery can be achieved with the consistent, active involvement of all family members. To help foster this involvement, a special family program continues throughout treatment. During inpatient and outpatient treatment, all families are scheduled to attend Family Week, a four-day combination of lectures and groups designed to help families understand chemical dependency and to guide families toward recovery. Weekly family group is available at each site for families involved with treatment and aftercare. This service is provided without additional cost to the family.
Cultural Support Services
We are dedicated to providing quality, culturally appropriate services to our clients, their families and significant others. Specific cultural programming addresses the needs of Native American and African American clients including:
- Culturally relevant patient education
- Ongoing community based-support
- Client advocacy
